Spectacular views on Pistolero

These Prairie Mountain Downhill Bike Trails are located 45 minutes West of Calgary and 15 minutes Southwest of Bragg Creek.

Park at Ing’s Mine Lot. Do not drive up Husky Road, even if the gate is open. It is for private use only. There are no shuttle options.

Pedalling up the gruelling and sustained Husky Road is the toll you pay for the privilege to ride “new” old school gnar.

All the trails are downhill only. If you are an intermediate rider, start with Ushoulda and Flo’s Diner.

Pistolero and Loamzilla are perfect for stepping up your game.

Faith Healer is a crowd pleasing Black trail.

If you’re super rad and want to hit serious Double Black gnar, checkout That. I have not done it, but I’ve heard from many pros that it’s their favorite trail.

A great loop is Pistolero, which has fantastic views from the upper clearing, followed by Faith Healer.

The East side of the mountain has plenty of fantastic Black options for riders that like things interesting.

This trail network is wild, untamed, and made for riders who like to climb straight up then bomb straight down.

On your way to Prairie Mountain be sure to stop by The Heart for your coffee and baking fix!

The staff are extremely friendly. The goodies are baked in the oven behind the counter–the delicious aroma is a mainstay for this cozy little cafe which also doubles as a yoga studio.

It is a great place to meet up with a couple friends before hitting the trails.

Calgary Cycle 22X is the closest bike shop to Prairie Mountain if something goes wrong or you need to grab a couple things. I have not personally been in this store, but their sister stores in Calgary have always been helpful and accommodating whenever I’ve needed something.

Moose Mountain Bike Trail Society does a fantastic job maintaining, developing new features, and securing funding for new trails.

If you ride this network, buy your yearly Moose Mountain membership to help fund maintenance and new trails.

There aren’t many new trails built in this style. These are great options and we have MMBTS to thank for it.
